Chapter 1 - Part 05 - EB Terran - Captains Log (Friends help each other)

Twangee waited at the exit point of the wormhole he had just created in order to rescue Krang from the Nifleheim Cloud sector. It was still unclear as to his reason for being there, but Krang seemed unable or unwilling to tell him that. Since this was a new friendship, that answer would come in time or never. The wormhole was beginning to close, but Krang's ship had not arrived, there was nothing on Twangee's instruments.

All at once, after a few tense moments, Krang's ship appeared just as the wormhole closed with a small flicker of light, then darkness. Krang's ship was not fairing well from his recent passing, but did manage to hold together long enough to make the trip. Now, Krang had to get to someplace for repairs and figure out what to do next.

Krang: Computer, open a channel to Twangee.

Computer: Channel open.

Krang: Well Twangee, looks like we part company here. I have to try to get my ship repaired and try to replace this cargo. Thanks again for your help.

Twangee: Are you sure you will be all right? I could assist in your travels to the nearest station, if you would like.

Krang: No really, I should go alone; trouble follows me and you don't need to be messed up in it. I will see you again, that you can count on, Krang out.

Computer: What course heading sir? Shall I set a course for Parsad Station or attempt a landing on Swooping Eagle planet?

Krang: No computer, set a course for Orsini Mining Platform and keep us out of the normal shipping lanes until we get to Carpenter. I don't want anyone seeing much of us until then. We will dock there and I will get you repaired, promise!

Computer: I have laid in a course; Beta Hydri System gate locked and engines ready to enter warp.

Krang: Go to maximum warp and let me know when we are near Orsini, I'm going in the back to get something to eat.

For now, Twangee would have to settle for his new friend's safe return from the cloud. This Terran was strange to him, but very fascinating at the same time. As for Krang, he did things Krang's way and tried to not forget those who helped him, though it may seem he did. He would always help someone that helped him, from the darkness at times.

Krang lead a secret life of sorts and not many people knew of him or even cared he was around. Back in the day when he was a "company man" and went to great length to bow to DeWinter's will, he had dreams. He wanted to be more then just a long haul runner or an errand boy for the old bat. When she did not have some "deal" brewing with some distant station, he spent his time on the long trips to Fenris, hauling equipment back end forth for a very good profit.

Some of the shorter runs out of Somerled provided him the time to learn other trades, things to fill his time while in space. Managing to make friends with a number of explorers who often found rare minerals, he took the time to learn how to make components. As all explores loved devices, components of high quality would always be a fair trade item with them. And knowing they didn’t get along he made sure as to provide for the needs of both the Jenquai and Progen as compact efficient power plants were as valuable in space as the best shields he could power.

Spending also an amount of time learning about his own engines and those of other races, he found ways to harness what he needed to move his ship with ease. Some of the engine designs he wanted to get his hands on would be outside the excepted area of trade and could only be sold on the black market or traded as if found on a derelict in space. Building engines was of such interest to Krang that he often managed to be late with deliveries due to stopping off at stations to find new engines.

It was on one such trip that he found someone that offered him a lifestyle that DeWinter hadn’t been able to provide in many years of service. It may have been a chance meeting, but it did not appear that way to Krang. You see Krang made no secret of his love for engine building and redesign work as well some very rare engines, which included some experimental ones. Since Krang always needed minerals to repair the components in his engines, Orsini Mining Platform was a place he often went.

Taking advantage of people wasn’t on his mind, but getting a good deal was always in the forefront of business transactions. After all, DeWinter had spent all that money training him in the art of negotiation, why waste it. What wasn’t of her interest was making friends, that was Krang's idea. It was always easiest to get the best mineral quality when you take care of the people you deal with. Buying at a fair market price was of interest, but mostly he bought in volume and large amounts of money always interested those who worked hard.

From time to time, Krang would find that he could supply some explorer with a better engine for a few slots of minerals they had just mined. One of the most prize lines was the Solar Engines he made with such a small signature that explorers could stay well hidden from those that would just love to loot instead of pay for the goods.
